5 DAY RT
5 day radiotherapy (RT) has been shown to be as effective as a standard 15 day treatment in select breast cancer patients
The below criteria qualify for 5 day treatment
T1 and T2 primary tumours
Patients who have had lumpectomy surgery (WLE)
Node negative cancers
BOOST
An additional 4 days of RT (boost) given to the resection cavity of the breast after a lumpectomy has shown to improve tumour control in the breast
This will extend the RT schedule from 15 days to 19 days
The women that benefit the most from a boost are women <50y age, and women in which the tumour resection margins are close to the cancer
